Running out of pumpkin spike while making your holiday pie? Don't Panic! These emergency substitutes can help you out of this and many other holiday cooking binds.

1 cup buttermilk = 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar + 1 cup of milk. Let it stand for 5 minutes.

1 tsp. pumpkin spice = 1/4 tsp. nutmeg + 1/2 tsp. cinnamon + 1/8 tsp. allspice + a dash of ginger or cloves.

1 cup of red wine = 1 cup of grape or cranberry juice.

1 cup of white wine = 1 cup of white grape or apple juice.

1 cup of butter = 7/8 cup of oil + 1/2 tsp. salt.

1 cup of oil = 1/2 pound of butter

1 egg = 1 Tbsp. water + 2 Tbsp. corn oil

1 tsp. dry mustard = 2 tsp. prepared mustard

1 Tbsp. cornstarch = 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder = 1/4 tsp. baking soda + 1/2 tsp. cream of tarter

1 cup of light corn syrup = 1/4 cup of water + 1 cup of white sugar.
