Their unique brand of relatable yet belief-challenging stand-up entertains audiences across the US, including some of the most unexpected cities. Focused on coming together and exploring evergreen social issues, Trae, Corey & Drew are blazing a comedic path to stardom. The trio are currently in development with a major broadcast network for a scripted sitcom series and a whole bunch of other projects they can't talk about right now because they've gone all Hollywood. JGBCB-Jerry Garcia Band Cover Band with Winston Ramble - 9:00pm-12:00am

Songbirds South

Formed in Athens, GA in 2012, JGBCB has been filling a hole in the Grateful Dead scene by offering up spirited covers of classic songs pulled exclusively from the repertoire of the Jerry Garcia Band, Garcia's long-running side-project. JGBCB has played shows from Key West to Colorado, exciting audiences with performances of beloved Garcia tunes not found within the traditional Grateful Dead catalog.

The Jerry Garcia Band (famously known to Dead Heads as "JGB") was as much a songwriting outlet for Garcia as it was a chance for him to cover the music he loved. With Jerry and bassist John Kahn as the band's staples (playing together as far back as 1970), a varied set of keyboardists, drummers, and backup singers filled out the lineup over the years, each bringing their own unique character to the band. Over the course of it's existence, JGB played a number of diverse musical styles, covering artists such as The Beatles, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, The Band, Jimmy Cliff, Smoky Robinson, The Rolling Stones, the Wailers, J.J. Cale, and Ray Charles. The list goes on and on, recalling the names of rock, soul, and folk royalty.

It is with a deep love of Jerry Garcia's music and the music that he loved that the members of JGBCB approach this project. The band came together for a single show in December 2012, which led to a local weekly residency in Athens. The positive response they received ultimately led JGBCB to tour around the country, giving fans all over a taste of the music of the Jerry Garcia Band. Count on hearing different material from night to night, consisting of JGB staples and deep cuts. How sweet it is!

Fourth Annual Christmas Tree Bonfire-6:00pm-9:00pm

Treetop Hideaways

Now that Christmas is over, you could put your poor dried out Christmas tree by the curb.

OR

you could continue the celebratory season by watching your tree burn in a glorious blaze atop a pile of other trees! What better way to start the new year than by watching a conflagration of past  Christmas celebrations and the remnants of the old year turn to ashes.

Your new year needs to begin with friends around a bonfire...

Drop off your tree anytime before Friday, January 19th at 576 Chattanooga Valley Road. This will again be epic, and you can take part! (Last year we had 119 trees!)

BYOCT (bring your own Christmas trees. And hot dogs and beer and chairs and things too.) This is a free event and will be a family-friendly environment. Dogs are welcome on a leash.

Whoever brings the most Christmas trees will receive a free night in the treehouse!

In Summer 2015, Corey teamed up with producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band) for his album, “While the Gettin’ Is Good, ”which was released on Sugar Hill Records. Smith’s concerts, which were documented on his last live record, Live in Chattanooga, regularly sell out, with audiences singing along to such fan favorites as the coming-of-age anthem “Twenty-One,” the nostalgic time warp “If I Could Do It Again” and the group hug “I Love Everyone.” Corey consistently tours, hitting around 120 dates per year and has begun releasing singles from his upcoming project, the Great Wide Underground.

Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival--Jan. 19 8:00am - Jan. 20 4:00pm

Birchwood, Tennessee

This is a free festival for anyone that loves the outdoors!

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is happy to host the 2019 Tennessee Sandhill Crane Festival in Birchwood on January 19-20 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Olan Chlor will once again sponsor the event. The festival includes the popular American Eagle Foundation, recording artists 2ND Nature, a main speaker, folk singers and arts and craft vendors.

The Cherokee Memorial is once again hosting Native Americans folklorists and crafts throughout the weekend. This inspiring place evokes responsibility and remembrance of our acts as a nation. The memorial also serves as a place of celebration for a people still thriving with a rich tradition and culture.

The entire region buzzes with birds and birdwatchers alike. Along with the star of the weekend, the Sandhill crane, many types of waterfowl, bald eagles, golden eagles, white pelicans and even whooping cranes are spotted each year. Free buses run the short distance from the Birchwood Community Center to the Hiwassee Refuge and Cherokee Removal Memorial. Both the memorial and refuge provide great birding opportunities, with views of the Hiwasseee. Volunteers and scopes are set up at each location to help novice birders or curious visitors.

Beginning in the early 1990’s the recovering population of eastern Sandhill cranes began stopping at the Hiwassee Refuge as they migrated to and from their wintering grounds in Georgia and Florida. TWRA has been managing this refuge for more than 60 years for waterfowl. Therefore, cranes find a perfect combination of areas for feeding and roosting. As many as 12,000 cranes have been known to overwinter at the confluence of the Tennessee and Hiwassee Rivers.

To Kill a Mockingbird at the Tivoli Theatre-2:00pm and 6:00pm showings

Ranked 34 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Films, To Kill a Mockingbird is quite simply one of the finest family-oriented dramas ever made. A beautiful and deeply affecting adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, the film retains a timeless quality that transcends its historically dated subject matter (racism in the Depression-era South) and remains powerfully resonant in present-day America with its advocacy of tolerance, justice, integrity, and loving, responsible parenthood.  Atticus Finch, the small-town Alabama lawyer and widower father of two, Gregory Peck gives one of his finest performances with his impassioned defense of a black man wrongfully accused of the rape and assault of a young white woman. While his children, Scout and Jem, learn the realities of racial prejudice and irrational hatred, they also learn to overcome their fear of the unknown as personified by their mysterious, mostly unseen neighbor Boo Radley.

All tickets are General Admission.

Music:

Jimmy Hall and friends featuring Kenny Greenberg
Songbirds South Stage
Dates: December 28, 2018 - Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Jimmy Hall first gained notoriety as the lead vocalist, saxophonist, and harmonica player for the band Wet Willie, which emerged from Mobile, Alabama in 1970. His unique brand of R&B-infused rock and roll swagger propelled the group’s “Keep On Smilin’” to the Top 10 on the Billboard singles chart in 1974. After five albums with Capricorn Records, Wet Willie moved to the Epic label in 1977, carrying the singles “Street Corner Serenade” and “Weekend” to the Top 40 along with five other songs to land in the Top 100. As a solo artist, Jimmy appeared in the Top 40 yet again with “I’m Happy That Love Has Found You” in 1980. Jimmy has just concluded 50 dates with the Jeff Beck group on the 2018 world tour across Europe and the United States. Photo and information about this event are from https://www.chattanoogafun.com/event/jimmy-hall-and-friends-featuring-kenny-greenberg/9728/

Jess Goggans Band presents a tribute to Janis Joplin
Songbirds South Stage
Dates: December 28, 2018 - Time: 9:00 PM to 11:59 PM

Think Susan Tedeschi meets a mature Janis Joplin. Jess Goggans is new to WOSRadio and we’re so glad we discovered her music. Her powerhouse vocals are gritty and emotionally-charged (and I hear she’s an artist in the kitchen as well) and her band plays a mean blues groove. – WOSR, Women of Substance Radio. Music has been in the Goggans family for generations; Jess’ father, who plays keys on her debut record Reality (released in 2014), made his mark in the 70s touring with Sam and Dave. Jess herself has been owning the stage since the early age of five. Photo and information about this event are from
